State hoops: Towson women rally late to beat George Mason

The Towson women's basketball team went on an 11-3 run in the final four minutes of the game Sunday to beat host George Mason, 53-51.

Dominique Johnson led the Tigers (8-16, 2-11 Colonial Athletic Association) with 17 points, while Rahneeka Saunders scored a game-high 18 for the Patriots (8-15, 3-9).

The Tigers opened a 6-2 run to pull within four at 46-42 with just under five minutes to play. After two Patriots free throws, Alliyah Berger scored five unanswered points, and Johnson made two free throws to give the Tigers their first lead of the half.

Rider 56, Loyola 41: A second-half rally wasn't enough for the Greyhounds (10-15, 5-9 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) to overcome the host Broncs (13-12, 8-6).

Katie Sheahin led the Greyhounds with 13 points.

Saturday's men's game

McDaniel 75, Gettysburg 50: Tyler Rudd (Glen Burnie) scored 20 points as the Green Terror (14-11, 8-10 Centennial Conference) defeated the visiting Bullets (12-13, 8-10). Joe Emerusabe led Gettysburg with 18 points. McDaniel finished in a three-way tie for the fifth and final playoff spot in the conference after Muhlenberg downed Ursinus. By virtue of a 3-1 record among the tied teams, the Bullets earned the berth over McDaniel and Ursinus.
