Host St. Francis (N.Y.) closed the first half with a 10-0 run and opened the second half with back-to-back 3-pointers and beat Mount St. Mary's, 70-56, in men's basketball Thursday night.
Rashad Whack led the Mountaineers (6-8, 1-2 Northeast Conference) with 17 points.
The Terriers (6-9, 2-1) opened the second half with a 6-0 run. The Mount responded with a 3-pointer by Taylor Danaher and four points from Whack to cut the deficit to 35-32.
But St. Francis' Ben Mockford made consecutive 3-pointers again to spark an 8-0 run for a 43-32 advantage.
Trailing 60-51 with just over two minutes left, the Mount had a chance to cut into the deficit, but Sam Prescott's 3-pointer from the left wing was long. The Terriers were able to maintain the lead from that point to earn the victory.
Whack shot 5-for-8 from the field and 6-for-7 from the line for his 17 points. Prescott added 11 points and five rebounds off the bench for the Mountaineers.
Bowie State 90, St. Augustine's 72: Byron Westmorland (Mervo) scored a game-high 18 points to lead the visiting Bulldogs (6-7, 2-2 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) past the Falcons (9-5, 2-2).
Tyquan Stroman scored 15 points for St. Augustine's.
McDaniel 61, Haverford 54: Andrew Melo scored 17 points and the visiting Green Terror (9-5, 3-4 Centennial Conference) used a 9-0 run to hold off a late rally by the Fords (5-7, 3-4).
Old Dominion 65, Towson 55: The host Monarchs (11-3, 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association) led for most of the game, but pushed the lead into double digits in the second half.
Tanisha McTiller finished with a game-high 19 points for the Tigers (7-6, 0-2).
St. Augustine's 71, Bowie State 49: The host Falcons (6-7, 2-2 CIAA) held the Bulldogs (4-7, 1-3) to 26.6percent shooting from the field.
The 22-point margin was the largest of the season for St. Augustine's; the 49 points allowed was a season low.
Jasmine Jacobs scored a team-high nine points for Bowie State.
Freshman Regime McCombs, the league Rookie of the Week , scored 14 points for the Falcons.
Johns Hopkins 55, Washington College 42: Alex Vassila had double, 12 points and 12 rebounds, and the Blue Jays (6-8, 4-5 Centennial Conference) took control with a 10-0 run in the second half.
Ashley Espinosa had 12 points for Washington College (7-7, 5-4).
Swarthmore 56, McDaniel 42: The visiting Garnet (10-2, 6-1 Centennial) outscored the Green Terror (5-7, 2-6), 34-19, in the first half to spark the win.
Rachael Rybak (Franklin) and Steph Perez each scored 11 points for McDaniel, which has lost three straight.
