Visiting Tulane scored the last four points of the game and a desperation three 3-point shot at the buzzer by Jordan Brickman was off the mark as the Green Wave beat Navy, 57-55, on Tuesday.
The loss dropped Navy to 2-3 overall, while Tulane, which had won its previous three games by an average of 25 points, improved to 4-0 overall.
Navy led 55-53 with 4:24 to play on a jumper by Jordan Sugars in the lane, but the Mids failed to score the rest of the way, going 0-for-5 from the field with two turnovers. Josh Davis hit a layup with 1:59 left for a 56-55 Tulane lead, and Trent Rogers went 1-for-2 from the line with 27 seconds left.
Central Connecticut State 77, UMBC 69: Three players combined to score 71 points as the host Blue Devils (2-2) won their second straight.
Chase Plummer led UMBC (0-5) with 20 points.
Freshman Kyle Vinales scored a game-high 29 points, while seniors Ken Horton and Robby Ptacek each scored 21 as Central Connecticut moved to 2-0 at home.
Kansas State 92, UMES 50: Percy Woods scored 13 points, but the visiting Hawks (1-4) fell thanks in part to a hot-shooting second half by the Wildcats (3-0).
After a close first half, Kansas State shot 65.6 percent from the field (21-for-32) and opened the second half with a 24-6 run to put the game away.
Franklin & Marshall 63, Washington College 47: The visiting Diplomats (3-0, 1-0 Centennial Conference) held the Shoremen (2-2, 0-1) to 24 percent shooting from the field and outrebounded them by 20.
