Stevie Taylor converted a three-point play with three seconds left to lift Ohio over host Morgan State, 65-62, on Wednesday night.

A layup by Jon Smith and free throws from senior guard Nick Kellogg gave the Bobcats (3-1) a 57-56 lead with 4:30 to play. The Bears (1-3) retook the lead at 58-56, before Maurice Ndour made a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 3:09 left to give Ohio a 60-58 lead it would never relinquish. Morgan's Anthony Hubbard tied the score at 62 with 38 seconds to play.

In a game that featured 11 ties, the Bears led by as many as eight, 21-13, with 5:40 left in the first half. Morgan closed out the first half with a 31-30 lead. Justin Black scored 12 of his 17 points in the first half for the Bears. Ian Chiles finished with 17 points for Morgan as well.

UMES 78, Mount St. Mary's 71: Hakeem Baxter scored a game-high 22 points as the host Hawks (2-2) held off the Mount (0-5).

Julian Norfleet scored 20 of his team-high 24 points in the second half for the Mountaineers.

The Hawks took a 54-47 lead on five consecutive points from Baxter.  Norfleet scored the next seven points, converting a three-point play while adding four free throws.

Baxter, however, scored three consecutive baskets to give UMES a six-point advantage.  The lead was stretched to 65-57 before Sam Prescott hit a 3-pointer with 3:18 left to cut the deficit to five.

Will Miller's 3-pointer with 1:50 left cut the UMES lead to 67-64, but Louis Bell made a corner 3-pointer on the next possession to give his team a six-point lead.  Norfleet converted a tough spinning drive to the basket, but Ishaq Pitt answered with a three-point play for a 73-66 advantage with 40 seconds left.

Norfleet's jumper made it 73-68 with 27 seconds left, but UMES was able to hold off the Mount rally and earn the victory.

Norfleet led the Mount with 24 points and five assists, while Prescott added 17 points. Rashad Whack had 11 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench.

Baxter paced UMES with 22 points and seven boards. Troy Sndyer had 13 points and Bell 12 points.

Penn State-Altoona 88, Goucher 84: The host Gophers (2-1) trailed by 12 with 9:29 left in the game and rallied to take the lead, 81-79, with 1:38 left but could not hold it.

The Lions (1-2) scored nine of the final 14 points to win. Tre Galloway III led Goucher with 22 points.

Alvernia 81, Johns Hopkins 65: The host Crusaders (2-1) used a 26-10 run over the final 10 minutes to beat the Blue Jays (1-2). Jimmy Hammer had 11 points for Hopkins.


Loyola 72, Howard 62: The host Greyhounds (1-3) used a 17-7 run early in the second half to earn their first win.

Kara Marshall and Nai Brown led Loyola with 14 points each, while Lisa Mirarchi added a career-high 13.

The Bison fell to 2-2.

Morgan State 90, Wesley 55: Tracey Carrington (Dundalk) scored a game-high 30 points to lead the host Bears (1-2) past the Division III Wolverines (0-3).

American 60, UMBC 39: Freshman Sara Tarbert led all scorers with 17 points, her fourth consecutive double-digit effort, but the host Retrievers (1-3) lost to the Eagles (3-0).
