Albany center John Puk hit a free throw with 0.4 of a second left in the second overtime to knock off visiting UMBC, 73-72, Wednesday night.
The Retrievers, led by Rodney Elliott (John Carroll) with 23 points, have lost six of their past seven games.
UMBC (4-11, 0-2 America East) had the ball with the game tied at 72 and 35 seconds left in the second overtime, holding for the final shot. But forward Chase Plummer missed a 3-pointer and Puk was fouled on the rebound.
American 65, Loyola 51: The host Eagles (7-7, 3-0 Patriot League) outscored the Greyhounds (6-8, 1-2) by 43-25 in the second half.
South Carolina State 78, UMES 71: The visiting Hawks (2-11, 0-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), led by Hakeem Baxter (23 points) and KyRe Jones (20 points), put together a second-half rally that fell short. The Bulldogs (4-9, 1-0) led by as many as 16 in the first half.
Navy 70, Boston U. 50: Kara Pollinger had a game-high 23 points to power the host Mids (11-3, 3-0 Patriot League) past the Terriers (6-10. 1-2).
American 52, Loyola 34: The host Greyhounds (3-11, 0-3 Patriot League) put together a 12-2 run over the final two minutes but lost to the Eagles (9-5, 2-1).
Freshman Lisa Mirarchi led Loyola with 11 points, while Jeneh Perry had a game-high 11 rebounds.
Penn 85, Morgan State 51: Tracey Carrington scored a game-high 29 points, but the host Bears (2-12) lost to the Quakers (8-2).
Morgan State has lost five straight and hasn't won since Dec. 18.
Maine 68, UMBC 39: Freshman Taylor McCarley shot 9-for-12 on free throws and scored 16 points for the visiting Retrievers (2-12, 1-1 America East).
The Black Bears improved to 7-8 and 1-1.
