Benimon, who leads the Tigers in scoring with 18.4 points per game, had 17 points in the first half as Towson took a 35-29 halftime lead.
The Pride briefly rallied for a 44-43 lead with just less than 13 minutes left in the game before Towson went ahead for good.
The Tigers' next contest is a road game at James Madison. With a win, the program would match its most wins in a decade.

Colgate 84, Loyola Maryland 60: Denzel Brito gave the Greyhounds (10-17, 7-6 Patriot League) a 25-24 lead with just under seven minutes to play in the first half, but the host Raiders (10-17, 4-12) closed the half on a 20-5 run and dealt Loyola its fifth straight loss.
R.J. Williams (St. Frances) led the Greyhounds with a career-high 16 points.
Elizabeth City State 85, Bowie State 80: The Bulldogs (14-13, 8-8 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) shot 27-for-53 from the field and 18-for-26 from the free-throw line in their home finale but fell to the visiting Vikings (14-12, 9-7).
Bowie State's Ray Gatling led all players with 22 points.
Salisbury 88, Frostburg State 66: The Sea Gulls' Justin Witmer led all players with 25 points as Salisbury (14-11, 9-7 Capital Athletic Conference) overcame a 22-12 deficit with 9:50 left in the first half and powered past the Bobcats (3-22, 2-15) in the second half.
Wesley 64, St. Mary's 62, OT: The visiting Seahawks (18-7, 11-5 CAC) saw their winning streak end at four games as the host Wolverines (22-2, 14-2) extended theirs to five.
The Seahawks' Nick LaGuerre (Lansdowne) led all scorers with 19 points.
Johns Hopkins 64, Washington College 57: Jimmy Hammer's 15 points led the Blue Jays (15-10, 12-6 Centennial Conference) past the host Shoremen (5-20, 4-14) in Johns Hopkins' final regular-season game.
Johns Hopkins made 21 free throws on 27 attempts while the Shoremen were 3-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Gettysburg 55, McDaniel 47: The Green Terror (17-8, 12-6 Centennial) held the visiting Bullets (12-13, 10-8) to a 31-29 halftime lead, but Gettysburg's 8-0 run with 3:31 remaining gave the Bullets the game.
