Trophy fall rockfish
Monday, Nov. 18: Capt. Luke Thatcher will present a free seminar, hosted by the Maryland Saltwater Sportfisherman's Association, on catching trophy fall rockfish. He'll discuss lures , locations, rigging and more. Doors at the American Legion Post 175 at 832 Manhattan Beach Road in Severna Park will open at 7 p.m. The seminar starts at 7:30. Use the entrance on the left side of the building under the awning.
Wednesday, Nov. 20: Mike Heck, author and owner of Mike Heck's Trout Guides, will discuss fly-fishing and fly-tying at the Maryland Trout Unlimited general meeting from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Towson Presbyterian Church. Heck is a guide in South-Central Pennsylvania and the author of "Spring Creek Strategies." Free. The public is welcome.
Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 20-23: The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels is offering a four-day hunter safety course with Maryland DNR-certified hunter safety instructor Ed Henry. Successful completion of the course, which runs from 6 p.m. to 9p.m. the first three nights at Van Lennep Auditorium, then 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 23, on the Saturday, earns participants a Maryland certificate of competency in firearms and hunter safety. Striped bass tourney
Saturday and next Sunday, Nov. 23-24: The 21st annual Chesapeake Bay Fall Classic, the bay's largest fall striped bass tournament, is open to recreational anglers, professional fishermen and charter boat captains.
