Bliss on the Bay
Saturday, Sept. 28: Bliss on the Bay, a benefit for HopeWell Cancer Support, will run 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ultimate Watersports at the Hammerman Beach Area of Gunpowder Falls State Park in Middle River. It will feature stand-up paddleboat races open to all levels, an outdoor community yoga class and a FloYo stand-up paddleboard yoga class, which will attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the largest stand-up paddleboard yoga class in history. Next Sunday, Sept. 29: The Walk for PKD will begin at 10:15 a.m. with check-in and on-site registration at 9 a.m. at the Hammerman Beach Area of Gunpowder Falls State Park. PKD — polycystic kidney disease — is a common genetic disease that affects children and adults, and often results in a need for dialysis and a kidney transplant. Hunter safety classes
Next Sunday, Sept. 29 The North Harford Game and Fish Association will hold in-person registration at 2 p.m. at 834 Wheeler School Road in Whiteford for October hunter safety classes. Class size is limited to 50 students. Hurd 5K Run
Nov. 9: The Fifth Annual Heather L. Hurd 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk will take place at 9 a.m. at Harford Community College. The race honors the memory of Heather L. Hurd, a history major at Harford Community College from 1999 to 2003, who was killed in 2008 by a distracted driver who was texting. On-site race registration takes place in the Susquehanna Center auxiliary gymnasium from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Information: go to harford.edu/heather or call 443-412-2449.
Through Nov. 3: "Crisfield Carvings — Bird Hunting on Broad Waters" will be on display daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Waterfowling Building at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum at Navy Point in St. Michaels.
