Gun and outdoor show

Memorial 5K run

Sept. 13: The seventh-annual Jessica Meredith Jacobsen Memorial 5K Run presented by the Father O'Neill Council No. 4011 Knights of Columbus will start and end at Immaculate Conception Church in Towson. Fisheries Symposium

Sept. 13: Coastal Conservation Association Maryland will host the Mid Atlantic Fisheries Symposium from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lowes Annapolis Hotel at 126 West St. The free symposium, which is limited to 125 attendees, aims to educate the public on the looming decisions on striped bass. Red-Trout Tourney

Sept. 20-21: The Coastal Conservation Association Maryland will hold its second annual Red-Trout Catch and Release Tournament around Crisfield. Anglers will compete in three categories — light tackle, fly and kayak — for redfish and speckled trout. Awards will be presented in each of the three categories for first, second and third place based on the total number of inches of fish caught — speckled trout and/or redfish — during one day. Decisions will be based on photos submitted to the judging panel. CCA MD has arranged for a block of rooms at Captain Tyler's Motel in Crisfield for participating anglers, and the Chesapeake Crabhouse and Tiki Bar will host the awards ceremony Sunday afternoon. Trick-or-Trot

Nov. 1: The Orioles, OriolesREACH and manager Buck Showalter and his wife, Angela, are joining forces with KidsPeace to host the fifth annual Trick-or-Trot 5K/1-Mile Walk, a Halloween-themed race to benefit children in foster care. The race will begin and end at Oriole Park. Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be awarded for top runners, age-group winners, fundraising teams and best costumes. The registration fee is $35 through Oct. 27 and $40 on race day. Register at kidspeace5k.org. All proceeds benefit KidsPeace Foster Care and Community Programs of Maryland and Washington, including KEYS (KidsPeace Empowering Youth to Succeed), a program that prepares youth for independence through life-skills training. Hurd 5K Run

Nov. 8: The sixth-annual Heather L. Hurd 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk will take place at 9 a.m. at Harford Community College in Bel Air. The race honors the memory of Heather L. Hurd, a history major at HCC from 1999 to 2003, who was killed in 2008 by a distracted driver who was texting. For more information, go to harford.edu/heather or call 443-412-2449.
