Hurd 5K Run

Nov. 9: The Fifth Annual Heather L. Hurd 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk will take place at 9 a.m. at Harford Community College. The race honors the memory of Heather L. Hurd, a history major at Harford Community College from 1999 to 2003, who was killed in 2008 by a distracted driver who was texting. Hunter-safety courses

August, September: The Baltimore County Game & Fish Protective Association will conduct two hunter safety courses on club grounds at 3400 Northwind Road in Carney. Registration for the August session will be Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon; classes will be Aug. 14, 15, 21 and 22 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; testing will be Aug. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Registration for the September session will be Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon; classes will be Sept. 11, 12, 18 and 19 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and testing will be Sept. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Summer 3-D fun shoots

Decoy exhibit

Through Nov. 3: "Crisfield Carvings — Bird Hunting on Broad Waters" will be on display daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Waterfowling Building at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum at Navy Point in St. Michaels.
