Lefty Kreh Day

June 21: Spend a day with legendary fly fisherman Lefty Kreh from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Middletown Community Park. Includes casting demonstrations, tips on tackle and fish stories. Free. Sponsored by the Potomac Valley Fly Fishers. Information: Go to or call Don Fine at 301-371-5617.

Wounded Warrior 3-D

June 22: The Vingt Neuf Bowmen archery shoot will feature 20 McKenzie and Rinehart targets. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost: $10. All proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Paddleboard Fun Race

June 28: Paddle Second Chance will hold its second annual Stand-Up Paddle day of fun racing and fundraising for Operation Second Chance, which serves wounded combat veterans and their families as they make the transition back to active duty or into civilian life. The event will be at Holts Landing State Park in Millville, Del. For information, go to

Pro-Formance Fishing

July 8: Pro-Formance Fishing Team, affiliated with B.A.S.S. and Maryland Bass Nation, is seeking additional members and will hold an introductory meeting 6 p.m. at Italia's Corner Café in Glen Burnie. The club is primarily based in Glen Burnie and Annapolis but has membership throughout the region. It fishes 12 club tournaments a year and participates in MBN and other tournaments. It is seeking boaters but also can accommodate a few riders. It welcomes new anglers who want to learn how to fish for bass competitively in a friendly environment. Obstacle-course race

July 19: BattleFrog, an obstacle-course race series founded and designed by Navy SEALs, will stop at Tomahawk MX in Hedgesville, W.Va. Participants can choose among 15K, 5K and 1K courses, each of which is inspired by BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) Training, the six-month qualification course that all SEALs must undergo. Charles Street 12

Aug. 9: The point-to-point running race takes runners down Charles Street, now a National Scenic Byway, from the shops at Kenilworth in Towson to Power Plant Live in Baltimore. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Children's Heart Program at the University of Maryland Children's Hospital. Register at
