Push-ups for charity

May 31: The event at Harley-Davidson of Frederick, 5722 Urbana Pike, which tests how many push-ups you can do in 90 seconds, will raise money for the Boot Campaign, a national organization that promotes patriotism, raises awareness of veterans issues and provides money to assist veterans. Trail beautification

June 7: On National Trails Day, Parks & People will celebrate its 30th anniversary by cleaning and beautifying the Gwynns Falls Trail. Volunteers will clean the stream and improve riparian buffers with native plants in Winans Meadow (Trailhead 2 at 4500 Franklintown Road in Baltimore) from 9 a.m. until noon. Canoe N' Scoop

June 7: National Parks Conservation Association and Baltimore Parks & Recreation are hosting a Star-Spangled "Canoe N' Scoop" for National Trails Day from 9 a.m. until noon to help clean the shoreline at Middle Branch Park (3300 Waterview Ave. in Baltimore) along the Star-Spangled Banner Trail. High Heels for Hope

June 7: Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation, also known as Baltimore's Classic Five, will hold the fourth annual "High Heels for Hope" Longest Drive Contest from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the driving range at Pine Ridge Golf Course. Proceeds will benefit House of Ruth's mission to provide victims of intimate partner violence with services to help rebuild their lives. All participants in the contest must hit their drive(s) while wearing a pair of high-heeled shoes. Information:

Pro-Formance fishing

June 10: The Pro-Formance Fishing Team, a member of the Maryland BASS Nation, is seeking additional members and will hold an introductory meeting 6 p.m. at Hellas Restaurant in Millersville. The group is located primarily in the Glen Burnie and Annapolis area but has membership throughout the state. PFT fishes 12 club tournaments a year and participates in MBN and other tournaments. It is accepting boaters and riders, and is seeking new and experienced anglers who want to learn how to fish for bass competitively in a friendly environment. Father's Day run

June 15: The Father's Day 5K & 1 Mile Fun Walk will return for the 26th year on the GBMC campus to benefit the GBMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The race starts at 8 a.m. at the South Chapman Building. Prerace registration is available online at $30 until June 11. Paddleboard Fun Race

June 28: Paddle Second Chance will hold its second annual Stand-Up Paddle day of fun racing and fundraising for Operation Second Chance, which serves wounded combat veterans and their families as they make the transition back to active duty or into civilian life. Obstacle-course race

July 19-20: BattleFrog, an obstacle -course race series founded and designed by Navy SEALs, will stop at Crumland Farms in Frederick. Participants can choose among 15K, 5K and 1K courses, each of which is inspired by BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) Training, the six-month qualification course that all SEALs must undergo. Charles Street 12

Aug. 9: The point-to-point running race takes runners down Charles Street, now a National Scenic Byway, from the shops at Kenilworth in Towson to Power Plant Live in Baltimore. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Children's Heart Program at the University of Maryland Children's Hospital. Register at
