Hiking season kickoff
May 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Appalachian Trail Conservancy will celebrate the arrival of the spring hiking season at the Visitor Center, 799 Washington St., Harpers Ferry, W.Va. May 8, 7:30 p.m. Chesapeake Bay Foundation senior naturalist and outdoors writer John Page Williams will be the guest speaker at a Northwest Chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association meeting. He'll discuss the Careful Catch program and CBF's State of the Bay report as it applies to anglers. The meeting will be at the Patapsco Council No. 1960 Knights of Columbus Hall at 1010 Frederick Road, Catonsville. Please use the Beaumont Avenue (side) entrance.
