Lefty Kreh's Tiefest

March 9: Fly-tiers such as Bob Popovics, Steve Silverio and Blane Crockett will demonstrate patterns effective in the mid-Atlantic region and answer questions at Lefty Kreh's Tiefest, sponsored by the Coastal Conservation Association Maryland. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville. Casting instruction will be available for youngsters under 16 from 11 a.m. to noon. Free for CCA members and youngsters under 16; $10 for others. Nonmembers may join CCA at the event for $25 and get in free.

America's Cup talk

March 9: NBC commentator Gary Jobson of Annapolis will give a talk titled "Sailing: Speed and Passion" and predict this summer's America's Cup winner in an event at 6 p.m. at the Capital Yacht Club, 1000 Water St. SW, Washington.
