No. 14 Pennsylvania 13, Villanova 9: The Quakers (4-1) scored six of the final seven goals to rally in the Independence Classic. Senior attackman Jack Rice (Boys' Latin) had a hat trick for Villanova, which was led in scoring by Georgetown Prep grad Max Hart's four unassisted goals but was scoreless for the final 17 minutes. Freshman attackman Nick Doktor, junior midfielder Zack Losco and sophomore attackman Isaac Bock had three goals apiece for Penn, which also got a goal and a game-high three assists from senior attackman Tim Schwalje. The Wildcats will host No. 1 Maryland (4-0) next Saturday night at 7. “We didn’t fly around [in the second half] as much as we were in the first and second quarters,” Rice said. “We sort of slowed the ball down and weren’t pushing the defense and were letting them set up. We also didn’t have as many possessions in the second half, and that sort of killed our momentum.”
