Brian Karalunas, Villanova

Senior, Dewitt, N.Y., long-stick midfielder

Karalunas aided the No. 13 Wildcats' 10-4 victory over then-No. 11 Delaware last Saturday. He recorded game highs in both ground balls with eight and caused turnovers with six, and he leads Villanova in both categories with 49 ground balls and 52 caused turnovers. Karalunas leads Division I with an average of 4.7 caused turnovers per game. The next player on that list, Detroit sophomore Jordan Houtby, is averaging 3.3 caused turnovers.

Kat Thomas, Duke

Junior, Latham, N.Y., midfielder

Thomas played key roles as Duke defeated No. 14 Boston College and Brown, both on the road last weekend. The Blue Devils' second-leading scorer registered a hat trick and a pair of draw controls Saturday in a 14-11 win over the Eagles. She then came back the following day to score two goals against the Bears, including the game-tying score with 1:19 left to force overtime. The midfielder also chipped in four draw controls in the 13-12 double-overtime win, which improved Duke to 10-2.
