"He's not ready to play yet, and it's not going to happen in the next couple weeks," he said. "It's one of those injuries that you just have to wait for."
An Inside Lacrosse report Feb. 29 said he would not return for six to eight weeks. Beattie was injured while scoring a goal in an early-season game against Duke. Later in that game, he was using crutches on the sideline.

Villanova's offense looked sluggish in an 11-5 loss to Maryland on March 17. Two key midfielders — Matt Bell (St. Mary's) and Max Hart — were out with injuries in that game. They returned Sunday against Syracuse, and each picked up a goal in the Wildcats' upset win. Bell and Hart scored back-to-back, starting a three-goal run for the Wildcats.
Both played the entire game and are expected to be in the lineup this weekend against Penn State.
John Desko blamed poor shooting, faceoffs, man-up troubles and a lack of a go-to goaltender as reasons for Syracuse's recent woes, including the first Big East Conference loss in team history Sunday against Villanova.
The Orange went 11-for-25 on faceoffs behind the efforts of Chris Daddio and Ricky Buhr. Desko has been looking for another option at the X but was not able to get a good assessment of Ralph D'Agostino (0-for-1) or Drew Jenkins (0-for-2), who jumped the gun on faceoffs against the Wildcats.
"They both jumped early. We couldn't even find out what our guys could do," Desko said. "We're trying other people in practice. We've put them in in game situations, and they haven't produced."
Dominic Lamolinara played the entire games against Villanova and Providence, but there's still no clear-cut favorite. Matt Lerman played all 60 minutes at Johns Hopkins. "We still haven't gotten one goalie that's stepped way ahead of the other goalies so far," Desko said. "[Freshman Bobby] Wardwell's close in the goal. That's certainly an option."
For man-up, Desko said the Orange has installed a new play that he plans to use against Duke and the team has been practicing all week — but new plays won't matter if the team doesn't shoot more effectively. "We talked about it all through the game. We talked about it at halftime," against Villanova Desko said. "We had players shooting high shots in the second half who at halftime said they were never going to shoot a high shot again. They did it anyway, so that was extremely frustrating."
