No. 11 Maryland men (2-0) @ No. 2 Syracuse (2-0)
Saturday, 1 p.m.
Outlook: The Orange have won five of the last seven meetings, but the teams have split the last two games with the Terps upending Syracuse, 6-5, in overtime of a NCAA tournament quarterfinal on May 22, 2011. Maryland has spread the wealth on offense with 12 players scoring 30 goals, but the unit will have to match an experienced Orange group that has torched the net for 36 goals. Syracuse may use a rotation of senior Dominic Lamolinara (St. Mary's) and junior Bobby Wardwell in the net.
No. 4 Northwestern women (1-0) @ No. 6 Duke (3-0)
Saturday, 11 a.m.
Outlook: In a key early-season matchup, the Wildcats are looking for a second win over an Atlantic Coast Conference team after edging Virginia, 13-12, two weeks ago. Northwestern leads the series 12-4 and Duke hasn't won since 2006. Draw control will be key for the Blue Devils. Northwestern controlled 11 of 17 draws in last season's 12-4 Wildcats win powered by a 7-0 start.
