Digest (May 18): Mount St. Mary's announces men's basketball recruiting class

College basketball: Mount St. Mary's, the reigning Northeast Conference champion, has rounded out its recruiting class with the commitments of Donald Carey (Frederick Douglass), Omar Habwe (St. James School), Nana Opoku (Potomac), Bobby Planutis (Bridgton Academy), Ace Stallings (Sidwell Friends) and James West IV (Freedom).


McDaniel's Farrell namedCentennial scholar athlete

Allison Farrell (Loch Raven), a senior on the McDaniel, was named the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's lacrosse. The exercise science major posted a 3.922 cumulative grade-point average through the end of the fall semester.

College baseball: No. 9 Salisbury lost its opening game to Roanoke, 15-5, in the first round of the NCAA Division III baseball tournament. The Sea Gulls move to the loser's bracket of the double-elimination event today at 11 a.m. against Otterbein.
