The NFC's leading rusher desperately wants to see Manny Machado remain an Oriole

Orioles fans, Todd Gurley feels your pain. Because he is one, too.

The Los Angeles Rams’ star running back and the NFC’s leading rusher is a Baltimore native who dominated local Pop Warner leagues at age 6. Even after moving to North Carolina for high school, to Georgia for college, to St. Louis as a first-round draft pick and to Los Angeles with the Rams’ relocated franchise in 2016, Gurley has remained a fervent fan.

There have been highs.

But there have also been lows.

This tweet is from Oct. 4, 2016. Remember that night?

Now with the Orioles entertaining trade offers for third baseman Manny Machado — whom Gurley affectionately dubbed “my boy” after he brawled with the Kansas City Royals’ Yordano Ventura last year — even Gurley has joined in on the Twitter chorus of outrage.

His fandom is even more refined than that, of course.

This could be an awkward next few days.
