After spending the weekend partying in D.C., Alex Ovechkin and Braden Holtby of the Washington Capitals are heading to New York City to appear on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday.
The Stanley Cup champions spent Saturday at the Washington Nationals-San Francisco Giants game, took the trophy around D.C. and eventually ended up in Georgetown at the Milano Cafe, where they met Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
The NHL title was the first in Capitals history. Team captain Ovechkin led all playoff scorers with 15 goals and won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. Goalie Holtby had all 16 of the team’s playoff wins. He finished with a 16-7 record, 2.16 goals-against average, .922 save percentage and two shutouts.
The Stanley Cup Final had strong ratings for NBC, especially in the Baltimore market.
After their TV appearance Monday, Ovechkin and Holtby will join teammates for Tuesday’s parade in D.C.
