Take into account the lack of star forward Landon Donovan, and a host of youngsters new to the national team fold, and there's a lot of catching up to do. Fear not. Here's a rundown on each player on the US 23-man roster, with a bit of background and an overview of the role they're expected to play for coach Jurgen Klinsmann in Brazil.

Alejandro Bedoya( Rick Osentoski, Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports / September 10, 2013 )
Notes: Midfielder ... 27 years old ... 5-feet-11 ... 161 lbs ... First played for USMNT in 2010........Played at Farleigh Dickinson University for two years before transferring to Boston College for his junior and senior years.
Outlook: Bedoya played his way into the World Cup squad with his performances in last summer's Gold Cup, and could start on the wing in Brazil. His work rate going forward and in defense make him an asset for the Americans, and his precision crossing into the box is a perfect match with a target man like Jozy Altidore.
