Thanks to Tuesday night's rainout at Fenway Park, the Orioles are still at the 40-game mark. It is a convenient time to take a look at how the players have fared so far in 2011. Regular position players have had around 150 plate appearances and the rotation has turned over eight times.
While the Orioles are in a good place at 19-21, few individuals have gotten off to great starts.
Center fielder Adam Jones has shown off all five tools at times. Thanks to a red-hot May, he leads the Orioles in runs and RBI and is second on the team in home runs and stolen bases.
And catcher Matt Wieters has given the Orioles Gold Glove-caliber defense, throwing out would-be base stealers more often than not and making a few game-changing plays at the plate. For me, it's a tough call picking between Britton and Wieters for my first-quarter MVP, but I have to go with Wieters because he has played a big role in the success of Britton and the other Orioles starters.
Your turn: Who has been the Orioles' best player so far?
