The Capitals and Baltimore city officials on Monday announced plans for the Baltimore Hockey Classic. City Council President Bernard C. "Jack" Young said the event will showcase Baltimore as a "No. 1 class city" and help attract a professional basketball or hockey team in the future.
Young believes that 1st Mariner Arena is a viable facility, but he will push for a new arena to lure a team here in the future.
"Everyone wants a glitzy arena, and we want one, too, but right now in these tough economic times, we have to wait," he told The Baltimore Sun. "So I’m excited about any possibilities of getting a new arena to attract whatever we want to attract here, whether it’s an NBA team, hockey or whatever. We just want to make sure Baltimore remains the No. 1 class city that we are."
You tell me: Would you rather a hockey team or a basketball team came to Baltimore?
