We have countless awesome sports photos in the archives here at The Baltimore Sun, and I have decided to share one with you each week in a regular feature called "Throwback Thursday." With the Cincinnati Reds coming to Camden Yards this weekend for an interleague series, I decided to search for old photos from 1970, the year Frank Robinson and the Orioles beat the Reds to claim their second World Series title.
In this AP file photo from September 30, 1970, Robinson is shown chilling out at his locker stall, where he was answering questions from reporters about the three other teams left standing -- the Reds, the Twins and the Pirates. Of course, the O’s would dispatch of the Twins in the American League Championship Series and eliminate the Reds in five games in the World Series. Robinson played a major role in that championship.
And for those of you who hated on the flip flops I wore on the photo on my old blog, look at Robinson's feet.
You try telling Frank Robinson that wearing flip flops isn’t manly.
Bonus: I have tickets to an upcoming Bayhawks game for whoever comes up with the best caption for this photo. Make me proud.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
