After writing about Alfredo Simon being cleared of potential charges in the Dominican Republic, how the Penn State scandal could have happened in College Park, and Dan Duquette's reluctance to sign a big-money free agent such as Prince Fielder or C.J. Wilson, I can finally get to the most important news of the day.

The Ravens and Redskins used to fight over strippers.

Asked about the Jets-Giants rivalry by ESPN New York, former Ravens linebacker Bart Scott dished the dirt.

“When I was in Baltimore, I can remember with the Redskins, you had guys fighting over strippers and all kind of stuff,” Scott told ESPN New York, which I found via D.C. Sports Bog, which got it from Sports Radio Interviews (I love the Web). “I don’t sense that here. I think it’s a mutual respect. I think the town is big enough for both of us.”

Thankfully, Scott, who signed with the Jets after the 2008 season, was pressed for more details.

“When you’re in a small place like Baltimore and D.C. is relatively close, hey, you compete over the same chicks,” Scott said. “And sometimes a football player’s favorite spot -- especially young football players -- are strip clubs. So it was always a rivalry, guys fighting about, 'Hey that’s my girlfriend, that’s my girlfriend.'

“But here? Hey, five million people, maybe more? Plenty for everybody.”

Ohhh, so that’s why so many former Ravens have signed with the Jets.
