Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has accomplished a lot in his young career -- three winning seasons, three postseason appearances and four playoff wins -- and he is taking on more of a leadership role entering his fourth season. But NFL Network analyst Jaime Dukes reports that there are doubters in the locker room.
According to Dukes, via USA Today’s Nate Davis, some Ravens players think Flacco needs to “put a little more time in,” which is surprising because we are used to hearing that Flacco is a film nut and a gym rat.
“He still may have to work a little harder than he's working right now," Dukes said on NFL Total Access on Wednesday. "There's no question he's a talented quarterback. But from what I hear coming out of that locker room, he studies but some say he might need to put a little more time in. That's what I hear."
Like I said, stunning stuff. Flacco is notorious for roaming the team’s practice facility in Owings Mills on off days and he has probably been at the facility shaking on doors during the lockout.
He even organized a hotel sleepover party with Ravens rookies Torrey Smith, Tandon Doss and Tyrod Taylor on Monday night and drove them to Tuesday’s workout at Towson University.
Flacco is by no means above criticism -- every young quarterback has his flaws -- but it’s hard to question his dedication. Someone inside the Ravens' locker room apparently has, though.
