By all accounts, it was a great weekend for Baltimore sports. The inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix had a nice turnout, and one writer is already hyping Baltimore as the “Long Beach of the East,” which I guess is a good thing. The Ravens signed five-time Pro Bowl center Andre Gurode. The Randy Edsall era at Maryland got off to a solid start against Miami on Monday night. And the Orioles... well, at least there were other things to tune in for this weekend.
If you celebrated Labor Day by watching the Orioles, you were treated to Brian Matusz allowing five runs against the Yankees as he failed to escape the second inning in a frustrating 11-10 loss.
That wasn’t pretty, but was it the ugliest moment from a beautiful Baltimore sports weekend overall? Matusz has some competition. As well as Danny O’Brien and the Terps played at times in a critical win over the Hurricanes, it was their gaudy new uniforms that got people talking during the primetime showdown. And then there was the poor anthem singer at the Baltimore Grand Prix, who gave Roseanne and Carl Lewis a run for their money with her off-key rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner" before Sunday's race.
So which Charm City sports moment was the ugliest this weekend? Let us know in the poll on your left.
