A pair of former Baltimore Ravens have tried out for NFL teams.
According to league sources with knowledge of the situation, former Ravens sixth-round linebacker and special-teams contributor Prescott Burgess auditioned for the Cincinnati Bengals.
He wasn't immediately signed to a contract, though, as the Bengals added former Fresno State linebacker Ben Jacobs to their practice squad after working out Burgess and former Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders linebacker Quinton Spears.
Meanwhile, former Ravens center-guard Justin Boren tried out for the Detroit Lions.
The Oakland Raiders tried out former San Francisco 49ers and Pitt linebacker Scott McKillop.
The Atlanta Falcons worked out former Dallas Cowboys tight end Andrew Szczerba.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tried out former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Diondre Borel.
The Detroit Lions were the only team to put in a claim on former Raiders cornerback Patrick Lee, adding him and cutting cornerback Alphonso Smith.
In other NFL news, the Philadelphia Eagles tried out veteran offensive guard Jake Scott and signed him to the roster.
The New England Patriots tried out running back Rock Cartwright, wide receiver Kamar Aiken, offensive guard Mitch Petrusa and wide receiver Lavasier Tuinei.
The Patriots were granted a roster exemption through next Monday for cornerback Aqib Talib as he comes off suspension, but he's expected to be active this week. The Patriots cut linebacker Jeff Tarpinian to create a spot for Talib, the troubled former Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter.
The Denver Broncos were granted a one-week roster exemption for linebacker D.J. Williams as he comes off suspension.
Since Jay Cutler is recovering from a concussion and Jason Campbell is slated to start Monday against the San Francisco 49ers, the Chicago Bears reacted by signing a quarterback Josh McCown today.
McCown started twice in three games last season for the Bears, albeit with mixed results.
He completed 35 of 55 passes for 414 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.
To create a roster spot for McCown, who played collegiately at Sam Houston State in Texas, the Bears cut former Indianapolis Colts tight end Brody Eldridge.
