Coffee Companion (7/17): The slowest sports day of the year

The Baltimore Sun

How bad was yesterday as a sports day? The ESPYs happened. Luckily, we had some local news, which you can always find the following day in the Coffee Companion.

- The Ravens rookies reported to training camp Thursday, including local product Michael Campanaro. Our positional preview took on the tight ends, which should be a big position in Gary Kubiak’s offense.

- Kevin Gausman is set to have a huge role for the Orioles in the second half, but Dan Connolly has other candidates to be most improved after the All-Star break.

- With the high-minors affiliates in the All-Star break, the Orioles are making some roster moves, beginning with outfielder Mike Yastrzemski moving from Frederick to Double-A Bowie after just a month in the Carolina League.

- Luke Scott was playing in Korea, but showed he hasn’t really changed after he was cut for calling his coach a liar and a coward.
