Coffee Companion (7/16): Orioles hitless in Jeter's final All-Star Game

I'm not going to run down the All-Star Game, mostly because I decided to not really watch it, but let's just bask in the fact that we're very close to real baseball coming back. I miss real baseball, which you can tell there is none of judging by what fills the Coffee Companion this morning.

- Nelson Cruz and Adam Jones each went 0-for-2 last night in the All-Star Game, which the AL won 5-3. It was all about Derek Jeter, and that’s fine.

- Cal Ripken Jr., who’s also familiar with getting a pitch grooved to him in an All-Star Game, said the Orioles are playing well in a radio appearance yesterday.

- In a somewhat refreshing change that I hope catches on across the city, Peter Schmuck graded the Orioles on the first half, and did so on the scale of a pennant contender.

- Ravens’ rookies report to camp today, and Jeff Zrebiec broke down the crowded wide receiver crew that the team will take into camp.
