Coffee Companion (6/24): Chris Davis homer carries Orioles

The Baltimore Sun

Yesterday was all about recovering from the dissappointing United States game, but the Orioles at the very least took our minds off that sadness and won in a way it seems they're becoming more and more apt at. This is the Coffee Companion, where we recap the previous day's sports headlines.

- Chris Davis came off the bench for a three-run, walk-off home run Monday night in the Orioles’ 6-4 win over Chicago. It was a bomb. Caleb Joseph also homered, his second straight game with a deep ball, and Delmon Young started for the first time in a while and had three hits and some keen baserunning.

- The Ravens spent the offseason getting younger, Jeff Zrebiec wrote. In more serious football news, I plugged the Ravens’ players into what I thought would be an ideal soccer team.

- Marshall Yanda is back to full strength this year.

- As always, check out our World Cup guide for all the information you need about today’s matches, and start thinking up your excuses for a sick day or very long lunch Thursday afternoon.
