Season in review: After keeping his roster spot in training camp, Brown started the season strictly on special teams. But after injuries to cornerbacks Lardarius Webb and Jimmy Smith, Brown saw snaps as an outside cornerback in the nickel package. He showed a little promise but struggled in the postseason.
Signature moment: Brown had by far his best defensive performance of the season in a Week 16 win over the New York Giants. Brown batted down four Eli Manning passes as the Ravens won in a 33-14 rout.
Stat that stands out: one -- touchdowns allowed in coverage by Brown, who was targeted 39 times per PFF.
Pro Football Focus grade: -3.5 on special teams | -9.6 as a defender | -6.6 in coverage | -4.6 on penalties.
Outlook for 2013 and beyond: Brown had an up-and-down season and has plenty of room to improve, but he showed that he could have a future as a cornerback. Depending on how the rest of the offseason shakes out, Brown could be in the mix to become the team's third cornerback during OTAs and training camp.
