Digest (Aug. 23): Arena Football League moving headquarters to Philadelphia next month

The Arena Football League will be relocating its business headquarters to Philadelphia next month. The League offices had previously been located in Las Vegas. The Arena Football League will be led by Ron Jaworski, who will serve as chairman of the executive committee, Randall Boe, who will serve as commissioner and John Adams, who will serve as president and chief operating officer. The AFL will be hiring additional executive staff to operate and expand the league. The Baltimore Brigade hosted this past season's championship game, losing to the Washington Valor.

Men's college soccer: Loyola Maryland added Brock Yetso as a volunteer assistant goalkeeper coach. Loyola juniors Brian Saramago and Barry Sharifi have been included among TopDrawerSoccer's National Top 100 Players to Watch in 2018. ... Johns Hopkins is the preseason favorite to win the Centennial Conference Championship.

College Field hockey: Fourth-ranked Maryland will open its season with a three-game swing in California this weekend. Maryland will play at Pacific in Stockton tonight at 8:30. The Terps will take on Cal in Berkeley Sunday at 3 p.m. and UC Davis in Berkeley on Monday at 2 p.m.

Johns Hopkins: The Blue Jays named Jonathan Ferber as the athletic department's director of strength and conditioning.

Men's basketball: Recent Loyola Maryland graduate Cam Gregory signed his first professional contract and will suit up for the Tromsø Story of the BLNO, Norway's premier professional basketball league.
