Ripken bobbleheads a nod to resale market
It didn't take long. The Orioles gave away a Cal Ripken Jr. bobblehead doll Sunday, and now, they are on eBay.
One seller from Randolph, N.J., was offering the combination of a Ripken bobblehead, a ticket stub from Sunday's game and another ticket stub, with a Boog Powell autograph, from Saturday's game. The price: $49.99.
A Camden, Del., seller had received a high bid of $22.50 for the bobblehead only - which was listed as still in the box, unopened.
Well, one would certainly hope so. You wouldn't want the hands of an actual fan to have touched the bobblehead you were going to put on your shelf, where it would sit in its box, unopened and untouched.
An entrepreneur from Joppa was ready to award you a Ripken bobblehead immediately for only $100. Given that a search yesterday afternoon for "Cal Ripken 1983 bobblehead" turned up 51 items on eBay- selling in the $20 range - Mr. Flip is guessing no $100 bids are headed Joppa's way.
