Clements rallies to win Senior Amateur by one shot
Ben Clements of Hobbit's Glen Golf Club shot a closing-round 72 and came from three strokes off the pace to squeeze out a victory in the Senior Amateur championship of the Maryland State Golf Association at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville. Clements finished 75-72-147 to overtake first-round leader Skip Tendall of Congressional CC (72-81-153) and Baltimorean Sheldon Kalish (73-78-151). In his first year of eligibility in the 55-over set, the winner edged Michael Weiner, 62, Kalish's clubmate from Hayfields CC, 75-73-148. Burke Hayes of the Chevy Chase Club shared third, matching Clements' par-matching effort by equaling the tournament's low round.
Indoor Football: Defensive back and kick returner Richard Johnson (Milford Mill), the Mariners' all-time leader in tackles, has re-signed with the American Indoor Football Association team.
