Hall of Fame: 2007 class
Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn were elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame Jan. 9.

Ripken received 98.5% of the vote, which ranks as the third-highest of all time. Gwynn got 97.6%, No. 7 all time.

Rick Hummel and Denny Matthews were also honored at the July 29 induction ceremony. Hummel received the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for baseball writing and Matthews got the Ford C. Frick Award for broadcasting.
