Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak on Jets' list of candidates to interview, source says

After resurrecting the Ravens' offense, coordinator Gary Kubiak could receive other head-coaching interviews.

Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak is among the head coaching candidates the New York Jets have requested to interview, according to a source with knowledge of the Jets' plans.

The Jets fired head coach and former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik on Monday. They have hired former NFL general managers Ron Wolf and Charley Casserly as consultants to help them in their coaching and general manager searches.

Kubiak was fired as the Houston Texans' head coach last year after eight years, a 61-64 record and two trips to the playoffs.

He has helped revitalize the Ravens' offense with the implementation of his zone-running schemes and his version of the West Coast offense.

The Ravens also set a single-season record with 5,838 yards this season.

Averaging 25.6 points per game, the Ravens ranking eighth in the NFL and finished 12th in total offense with an average of 364.9 yards per game. They finished eighth in rushing offense, averaging 126.2 yards per game as journeyman running back Justin Forsett rushed for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Ravens allowed 19 sacks, the second-fewest in franchise history.

Quarterback Joe Flacco passed for career-high 3,986 yards and 27 touchdowns. Wide receiver Steve Smith caught 79 passes for 1,065 yards and fellow wide receiver Torrey Smith caught 11 touchdowns.
