Jon 'Bones' Jones (19-1) vs. Glover Teixeira (22-2) for UFC Light Heavyweight championship
"Bones" Jones, the champion and brother of former Ravens defensive lineman Arthur Jones, will be fighting for the first time since winning his toughest test against Alexander Gustafsson in September. He faces Teixeira, who is undefeated in the UFC and is riding a 20-fight winning streak over eight years. Many believe Jones will win the fight, but he must avoid being hit by Teixeira's heavy right hand. Of Teixeira's 22 mixed-martial-arts wins, 12 were won by knockout/punches, including his most recent victory, over Ryan Bader is September. The key for Teixeira will be to get inside of Jones' reach (the longest in the UFC) and to avoid being hit by oblique kicks.
Vagner Rocha, who had been scheduled to fight Joe Ellenberger in his UFC debut, has been forced out of Saturday's UFC 172 event due to an injury suffered while training in Baltimore.
The UFC 172 card will have 10 bouts. The Danny Castillo vs. Charlie Brenneman fight will move to the FOX Sports 1 prelim section of the event.
