Jim McKay

Legendary sportscaster Jim McKay graduated from Loyola College in 1943. He briefly worked for The Evening Sun and became Baltimore's first on-air television broadcaster in 1947 for the new station, WMAR-TV. The Maryland Million Day, second only to the Preakness in Maryland's horse racing industry, was founded by McKay in 1986. McKay also covered the terrorist attacks on Israeli athletes during the 1972 Munich Olympics. McKay died on June 7, 2008 at 86.
