Dundalk native Bucky Lasek, skateboarder and Olympic snowboarder Shaun White, BMX icon Ryan Nyquist and skating legend Bob Burnquist are among the top performers scheduled to take part in the Pantech Open in Ocean City, the Dew Tour announced Thursday.
The Pantech Open will take place July 21-24 and will be the first ever stop in Ocean City for the Dew Tour in its six-year history.
It will have four events: BMX Park, BMX vert, Skate vert and Skate bowl. The Open will be the first time the bowl is used in competition. Lasek, Burnquist, up-and-comer Pedro Barros and others will compete in the event.
Lasek will also compete in the Skate vert, an event he has plenty of expertise in. The six-time X-Games vert gold medalist will skate against White, 2010 Dew Tour champ Pierre-Luc Gagnon, Barros and others.
The BMX Park will feature Nyquist, who also designed the course, 16-year-old Brett Banasiewicz, defending BMX Park champion Daniel Dhers and 2009 Dew Cup champion Garrett Reynolds.
Current Dew Tour leader Jamie Bestwick will also make an appearance in Ocean City. He will ride in the BMX vert against a host of veterans, including Steve McCann, Francisco Zurita and Austin Coleman.
The Open will be broadcast on NBC. Other festivities include a live concert, a festival and a surfing contest.
