This has been something of a weird week. Imagine how much worse it would be if it was pouring like it was at night every morning? I'd venture to say there wouldn't be anyone getting out of bed for their morning coffee, let alone needing the Coffee Companion, where we recap the local sports headlines every weekend morning.
- The Orioles took a wet one Wednesday night, 6-0, to take two of three from a hapless Red Sox team that managed one run all series. Miguel Gonzalez pitched a rehab start with an eye towards returning next week, and Nolan Reimold was also in Bowie, where he’s said to be as healthy as he has been in years. Kevin Gausman takes the hill Thursday against the A.L. East-leading Blue Jays.
- The 2014 World Cup begins today in Brazil, and local fans are ready for the action. The last group preview, for Group H, is now up. All eight groups can be found at that link. For those of you with more of a passing interest, we compiled some of the best hair in the tournament for you.
- Ravens’ second-year fullback Kyle Juszcyck could have an exciting new role in the offense under Gary Kubiak. Fans who want to see that new offense in action at training camp can at two open stadium sessions, or enter a lottery to see them at the team facility in Owings Mills.
Going, going, back, back, to Cali, Cali
- The Rangers are in the process of going full Rangers in the Stanley Cup Final. Down 3-0 and with no realistic hope to be seen, they played the worst game of the series and rode a smoking hot Henrik Lundqvist to a 2-1 win. They will probably win Game 5, too, before falling in six or seven.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
