An overpowering player, the striker from Mount St. Joseph twice led the American Soccer League in scoring, in 1947-48 and 1950-51. Four times, he carried his teams, the Baltimore Americans and Philadelphia Nationals, to ASL titles. A member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, Kropfelder also played one year at Loyola College and led the Mason-Dixon Conference champs in scoring.
