133. Jessica Long, swimming

The 20-year-old Paralympian from Middle River, who had both legs amputated as a child, has won more than 75 gold medals and set dozens of world records since she began competing at age 12. She took three golds at the 2004 <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="EVSPR0000085" title="Paralympic Games" href="/topic/sports/paralympic-games-EVSPR0000085.topic">Paralympics</a> in Athens, and four in Beijing (2008). A year earlier, she won the Amateur Athletic Union's Sullivan Award as America's top amateur athlete, edging <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PESPT008491" title="Michael Phelps" href="/topic/sports/swimming/michael-phelps-PESPT008491.topic">Michael Phelps</a>.
