Sergio Garcia and Tiger Woods are not the best of friends and judging but the back and forth comments of recent weeks, they may even have to be separated at the next golf tournament they're at together.
The two professional golfers had some testy back-and-forths around different incidents at the TPC earlier this month, but a comment made by Garcia at the European Tour's gala players' award dinner may have gone over the line of taste.
According to the Guardian, Garcia was asked while on stage if he would ever have dinner with his adversary Woods.
"We will have him round every night," García said. "We will serve fried chicken."
Garcia didn't correct the comment at the time but later in the evening a statement was issued by Garcia through the European Tour:
"I apologise for any offence that may have been caused by my comment on stage during The European Tour Players' Awards dinner. I answered a question that was clearly made towards me as a joke with a silly remark, but in no way was the comment meant in a racist manner."
Let's see how the sports and golf world reacts to this one.
