Most of the events in the area were postponed Friday evening and some of today’s have already been called off. Fans should doublecheck if events are still on before heading out today.
Among the games that were postponed or canceled were three basketball games involving Aberdeen Roncalli teams. The girls’ squad had its game against Redfield-Doland at Redfield moved to Tuesday and will no longer be a part of today’s Hanson Classic. The Cavaliers were scheduled to face Wagner today, but that contest has been canceled.
The Roncalli boys’ team was scheduled to take on Sioux Falls O’Gorman in the Dakota Schoolers Classic in Sioux Falls tonight, but that game has been postponed for now.
The Aberdeen Central gymnastics team was scheduled to participate in a meet in Pierre today, but that event has been called off. Today’s Deuel Gymnastics Meet in Clear Lake has been canceled as well.
The Northern State track and field team will compete at the Mankato State Alumni Open in Mankato, Minn., instead of the Black Hills State Open in Spearfish.
Among the girls’-boys’ basketball doubleheaders that were postponed on Friday were Hamlin at Britton-Hecla, Langford at Warner, Mobridge-Pollock at Crow Creek and Northwestern at Ipswich. The only one that has been rescheduled so far is Northwestern-Ipswich, which was moved to Tuesday. The boys’ game will be the American News Game of the Week and can be seen live at www.aberdeennews.com.
Other girls’ basketball games that were postponed Friday were Milbank at Groton, which will now be played on Monday, and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte at Spearfish.
Other boys’ basketball games that were postponed from Friday were Edmunds Central vs. Potter County at Hoven, and Lemmon at Dupree. Neither game has been rescheduled yet.
The Aberdeen hockey teams have pushed up their games in Pierre today to allow more travel time. Here is the new schedule for those games against the Oahe teams: first PeeWee game at noon, girls’ varsity at 2 p.m.; second PeeWee game at 4 p.m.; boys’ varsity at 6 p.m.
