Linebacker Chad Greenway underwent successful surgery to clean up his knee on Wednesday morning, coach Leslie Frazier said, and the Vikings still expect Greenway healthy for training camp.
"We don’t see any side effects occurring," Frazier said. "This should help him be ready to go."
Undrafted free agent linebacker Nathan Williams had arthroscopic surgery to clean up ankle damage from his days at Ohio State, and the Vikings also expect him to be ready for camp in late July, Frazier said.
With both players out for the Vikings’ mandatory minicamp next week, though, the team will be able to take a look at a number of its other linebackers over three days of practices. Audie Cole, Larry Dean, Erin Henderson, Gerald Hodges, Stanford Keglar, Tyrone McKenzie and Marvin Mitchell should be healthy for next week’s camp. With Henderson playing in the middle and Greenway out, the Vikings could give first-team practice snaps to players at both outside linebacker spots.
