Northwestern served up 40 ace serves and pounded out 28 kills as it overpowered Aberdeen Christian in three sets Tuesday at the Civic Arena.
Northwestern won by scores of 25-2, 25-5 and 25-5.
The visitors were led by Jeanna Duncan, who connected on all 27 of her serve attempts with 19 aces. Darby Duncan added 10 ace serves for the Wildcats. At the net, Jordan Peterson had a dozen kills, making 13 of 14 spike attempts.
Aberdeen Christian coach Ashley Landis said the Knights had specific things they wanted to work on during the match, including serving and passing.
“We had goals that we decided on before the game, and worked toward those goals,” Landis said. “I was very proud of the girls of how they handled a good team.”
Going up against one of the best teams in the area can provide an opportunity to learn and Landis said the Knights were trying to do that.
“They definitely got some experience from a very experienced team,” Landis said. “The girls have a better understanding of game situations. We learned a lot, that’s for sure.”
The Knights (0-1) will host Ipswich at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Civic Arena. Northwestern (3-2) will host Langford Area Thursday at Mellette.
