Brookings hosts SDGA events
Two South Dakota Golf Association events will open today at the Brookings Country Club.
The 36th annual Women’s Senior Championship and the 50th annual Women’s Amateur Championship will be played out there this weekend.
Patty Coddington of Sioux Falls returns to defend her title in the Senior Championship.
Kim Kaufman of Clark is back to try to win her second consecutive Women’s Amateur and third overall.
The 36-hole Senior Championship ends Saturday. With 32 players, the 54-hole Women’s Amateur Championship ends Sunday.
Three Aberdeen women, Colette Quam, Helen Plumage and Joan Bosanko, are in the 13-player field for the Senior Championship.
Plumage won the 1996 and 1997 state titles.
Couples tournament in Ipswich
The Adam & Eve Couples Golf Tournament is set for Monday, Sept. 3 at Split Rock Country Club in Ipswich. The 18-hole event will feature an alternate shot format. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with the tourney beginning at 10.
Cost is $80 per couple which includes a steak supper. Carts will be available to rent.

Mike Gross Memorial Tournament planned Saturday
The second annual Mike Gross Memorial Tournament will be Saturday at Rolling Hills Golf Course starting at 3 p.m. Format is a four-person scramble. Entry fee is $50 and includes lunch. Pprizes will be awarded.

Golden Eagle youth camp planned Saturday morning
The Golden Eagle Youth Football Camp is set for Saturday morning at Swisher Field.
The event, for participants in Grades 3-6, will run from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Cost is $20.
The camp is run by Central coach Mike Flakus and his coaching staff. Players are encouraged to wear their football pads. For more information contact the Central Athletic Office at 725-8187.
