Thirteen teams will be flipping out at the annual Hub City Invitational on Saturday.
Aberdeen Central hosts the big meet beginning at noon at Golden Eagles Arena.
Participating teams include Aberdeen Central, Britton-Hecla, Brookings, Huron, Mitchell, Milbank, Pierre, Sioux Falls Lincoln, Sioux Falls O'Gorman, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Sioux Falls Washington, Warner and Watertown.
The Golden Eagles warmed up for the invite by hosting Jamestown, N.D., in a dual last week.
In the past, Aberdeen has posted its lowest scores in the uneven bars.
“We're getting there in the uneven bars,” said Aberdeen head coach Jen Deutsch. “There were a lot of things we didn't throw at the first meet. We need to get them a little cleaner. The skill level that we have on bars now, which has always been our weak point, is good for us. Where we are going in the future on bars is very exciting.”
Another challenging event is the balance beam because of falls.
“Beam is the nemesis or downfall of any team whether that's your strongest event or not. You have to stay on the beam. We had some falls on beam (last week) but we threw some hard tricks, too,” said Deutsch.
Gymnastics fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the Aberdeen squad compete as four home events remain on the schedule after Saturday.
Aberdeen will host a triangular with Stanley County and Pierre on Jan. 6, another triangular with Watertown and Sioux Falls O'Gorman on Jan. 13, the Eastern South Dakota Conference championships on Feb. 5 and the Region 3AA Meet on Feb. 11.
The Golden Eagles competed last week without freshman Mattison Flakus who had a knee injury.
